In the Aftermath of Mankind

It is life, time for breathing deep, sighs and touching without fingers. Hummingbirds whizzing by my ears, the striking fear of that buzzing sound, so large and loud. Only they can scare me.

A Beautiful Mind is a Simple Mind!!

In the movie ?A Beautiful Mind? John Nash (played by Russell Crowe) is a schizophrenic math genius who struggles with is inability to have peace of mind. In one scene he bangs his head on the window until it bleeds, begging his mind to slow down, all the while having a conversation with his imaginary roommate, Charles.

Jesus wants A Few Good Men! Living A Life You Always Wanted!

Jack Nicholson (Col. Jessup) (marine cornel) YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH ?.Son, we live a world that has walls and those walls have to be guarded by men with guns. Whose gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinburg? I have more responsibility here than you could possibly fathom. You curse the marines. You have that luxury. You have that luxury of not knowing what I know. And that my existence as grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives. I know down deep in places you don't want to talk about, you don't want me on that wall, you need me on that wall. We use words like HONOR, CODE, and LOYALTY. We use these words as the very backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom I provide. I prefer you to just say thank you and go on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon, and stand to post. Either way, I don't give a crap what you think you are entitled to!" (end of scene)

Angels Amoung US - We Reap What We Sow!

John Eldredge writes in his book Waking the Dead, "God what do you have for my heart today?" He continues by saying, "you may be stunned by what he guides you into.

Building the Bridge of LOVE - Dont You Think Its time?

One of the saddest times in any child's life is when for some reason they think one or both or their parents are going to be taken from them. In the mid-nineties on one of their tours Naomi Judd announced to the world that she had hepatitis and would retire from the country music business. Leaving her daughter Wynonna to sing on her own for the first time in her life.

Lance Armstrong had it Right-- Every Second Does Counts!

I have been counseling people on weight loss, exercise efficiency and nutrition for over twenty years. Every time I go to the gym I observe people, their training tactics and their workout habits. Over the last few years I have noticed something about certain people in the gym that has been interesting. You would think more people would do this but they don?t. What I have noticed is certain people have a habit or process they go through when they workout that most do not. What is interesting is, before I even realize that they do it, I can tell by the way their bodies look that they have this habit. They are leaner, healthier looking, and stronger than most.

Failure Is Never As Painful As Regret!

"I would rather regret some of my failures in life than to live my life failing to forget my regrets." GR

First Things First-- Balancing Your Priorities!

I'm not sure Paul had the Japanese culture in mind at the time when he writes, "Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and all other things will be added unto you." I'm not sure how much popularity the bible has in Japan today either. Yet, it seems as though the Japanese people have at least one biblical principle figured out. In the book, "First Things First", Steven Covey helps us understand how and why the Japanese people think how they do and accomplish so much more than American's in a same twenty-four hour period. Covey explains, that we can divide all our daily tasks into two main areas of our lives. One area is the Important/Urgent-NOT Urgent area and the second consists of tasks in the NOT Important/NOT Urgent area.

Gilligan Finds Jesus!

One day Gilligan ventures off as usual into the jungle. After a few hours the Skipper knows Gilligan's absent-minded behavior, gets a little worried and goes trotting off looking for him. After a while the Skipper hears Gilligan's squeaky voice in the distance yelling, "SKIPPER, SKIPPER, SKIPPER HELP!!!!"

Life is like Golf

In the golfing world, yesterday may have been one of the most exciting and long awaited days in the sports history. "The Masters" golf tournament is the most prestigious championships in all of golf, but no more important than to the man that won it. As he walked up the eightieth fairway, I couldn't help but wonder what was going through his mind. You see, Phil Mickelson was known as the best golfer in the world who never won a major championship. In forty-seven tries he placed in the top ten eight times and three of them were previously placing third in The Masters, yet he never could win the big one. He developed a reputation of choking in the last rounds never able to finish on top of the leaderboard.

God?s Eyes- If These Four Walls Could Talk?

Can you imagine being sent out into the wilderness for forty years like Moses? If Moses would have lived his life up until then differently would God have spared him the discomfort? Was God trying to prove some point to Moses by making an example of him? What can we learn about this story?

Loving People In Spite Of Them, Not Because Of Them!

Before the movie "Finding Nemo", came out Steve Jobs the founder of the Apple Computer company spent millions of dollars promoting it. Before a major push on merchandise Nike will sign a multi- million dollar contract with some sports star. Sometime soon you will see a major player in the clothing industry hire a celebrity to promote their product before the holiday rush. These companies think they have it figured out. How do they attract you to the product or service they are selling? The packaging!!

Inner-Tubing With God: Understanding Gods Ways

It is so obvious that God works and thinks on a totally different level than we do. I have spent most of my life in my left logical side of my brain trying to figure out God, people, events and reason. Only to be left frustrated, irritated and emotionally dehydrated.

Jesus the Great Teacher --Lessons Learned!

I don't know of anyone who really liked taking tests in school if you did there is something seriously wrong with you. It just seemed as though some breezed through while people like myself always struggled. Life is not fair!!!! Some call it tests anxiety. I think I just concentrated on trying not to get the answer wrong instead of relaxing and allowing my brain to find the answer in my head. Most times the next day I could do better because of no pressure. Second golf shots are like that too! So when I received my test scores back all I noticed were the red marks and disappointments instead of how many right answers I had out of one hundred. Having said that, perfect test scores were few and far between for most of us I think.

Let Go Of My EgGO--Pride Cometh Before A Fall!

Years ago a commercial ran for eggo waffles. It showed two small children grabbing an eggo waffle popping out of the toaster, yelling, "Let go of my eggo!!" We didn't see what transpired between the two, yet I have to believe one of two things happened; one of the children would have given in and let go or the waffle would have been torn in to small pieces.
