Soulstretch: Raising the Bar on Nobility and Nicety
In the make-believe world, too, fiction and films are filled with flawed characters fighting their way to selfish goals. Pick up any book on how to write novels and short stories and you see the word "conflict" in bold.
For mass conflict, consider that people love war. Even the blasted bodies of innocent babies in a battle zone do not prompt the laying down of arms or the hammering of pistols into plowshares.
It doesn't have to be that way. The change starts with secret questions. You have to be silently skeptical of all you've been taught. You must privately challenge every authority and doubt the word of every teacher, messenger, mystic or prophet to get to truth at rock bottom. This appeal to the secret, silent, private side of your nature means you are about to get acquainted with your soul
Soulstretch is a term we have coined to help you extend your goals to new heights of glory. Why settle for average when you can be great
We'll leave arguments about what the soul is and how it functions to philosophers. If you can sense an aspect of your being that is super-intelligent, supremely safe and loving, you are on the right track. If you suspect ever so slightly that this super-self is capable of revolutionizing your life, that's good enough to understand this article
Soulstretch insists that nobility and nicety are your birthright. You are capable of lofty thoughts and upstanding character. You can be genuinely kind and generous by choice without sappy idealism and religious threats. You can achieve outstanding feats so far above you they are impossible to imagine right now. All this by listening to your soul
Do not expect some mind-boggling, whacky occurrence. Soul is so ordinary it does not need shocking events, mysterious signs or eerie voices. All it takes are questions you ask in solitude with absolute honesty in the answers. You don't ask your friends for they can't help you. If you read spiritual books, know that they contain someone else's experience. You still have a long way to go to make soul knowledge personal-so real you understand all by yourself, not dependent on infallible teachers and special revelations.
Soulstretch is all about you and how you can gather confidence and courage to face the universe alone but with complete certainty of riches and happiness now and in the future
Soulstretch can be difficult for many people for they haven't a clue as to how to think for themselves. They wouldn't dream of questioning holy writings yet that is what your soul longs to do. Surprisingly, your faith may grow but the difference is you believe through deep conviction not blind obedience
Soulstretch may mean different things to different people, but the bottom line is freedom. You break the chains of myths and traditions that sell you short and place other people above you. You are free of doubt about life's magnificent purpose and the magnificent role you play.
It may take feistiness and fortitude to find your independent soul, but here conflict is turned to good, not aimed at others. You can plan a program of soul stretching exercises, such as daily reading, affirmations, journal writing and meditation. Or you can say to your soul, "Look here, friend. Let's get this show on the road. I want the highest, finest and best and trust you to point the way. I've heard that's your job."

Spiritual Surrender: Let Nature Be Your Teacher
Although spring is just around the corner, there have been days lately where it feels as though it will never be here. I am not a cold weather person and I never have been. I often kid with people that when it came my time to come to Earth I had requested to live someplace like Tahiti, somehow my request was confused with someone else's who had asked for cold weather and I ended up in the hills of Connecticut. Not funny! As I sit here in this cold, April weather waiting for spring, the one thing I am sure of is that spring will come. Before I know it the snow will have melted and the grass will be green. The daffodils and tulips will be blooming in all of their colorful glory and I will feel the warmth of the spring sun on my face.
Prior to the September 11th terrorist attacks on the United States and its people of freedom, this article was written in as an outcome of some research that I completed regarding the history of world religions and the fervor of religious dogma that continues to be the mark of "man's inhumanity to man."
Life is a Continuous Prayer
Prayer doesn't just happen when we kneel or put our hands together and focus. Prayer actually occurs more often than we think.
Using Your Spiritual Path Against Yourself
In looking back at my process over the years I have noticed an interesting phenomenon that I refer to as "using my path to go against myself." This behavior may be a surprise to many of you?.but as programmed ego minds we have been trained to use our life situations to go against ourselves since we were small. We have learned from those around us to use other people to raise our blood pressure, prove that we are not good enough, affirm that we will never be loved or that life is unfair. Unfortunately, the list of way we use others to hurt ourselves is endless.
Show Of Hands
The human body is surely a miracle of God's creation. Each member has its unique function with none quite as active as the hands. Everything man has ever made or ever will make is made by hands.
How many of you out there have ever wondered if a life of faith is worth it? Don't shy away from me, because you know there have been instances in your life when the bad guys won. The world is not fair, and the concept that good always triumphs can seem like fiction when you look around and see deceit running rampant. This fallen world shows its imperfections in countless ways, and every once in a while you're going to fall prey to it.
The Power Of Prayer - Gush Katif Needs You Now
You can't help but feel a sense of electricity in the air. History is unfolding, make that prophecy is being fulfilled, and will continue to be fulfilled daily from now until the coming of the Lord. The most exciting, and challenging times in human history are beginning to unfold with increased intensity each day.
Pray Without Ceasing
"Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." 1 Thessalonians 16-18, NIV
Spiritual Intelligence: How It Benefits A Person
In one forum, one participant posted this query:
Daily Rituals as a Doorway to the Higher
If you have a longing to connect with something higher, whether it be your higher self or higher powers and beings, one of the simplest ways to connect is by creating a daily ritual for yourself. Whether you meditate, do yoga, read inspirational books, or just take a walk, doing a daily ritual creates a doorway through which the higher can enter your life.
A Merry Heart is Like a Medicine
When the body of Christ isn't protected we become vulnerable and sick in the same way. Every person in the body of Christ represents an important part of that body. Some people lead and some follow, but without the other one, it's impossible to work correctly. When one person in the congregation hurts, we should all hurt and when someone has a praise report, we should all be in praise. But unfortuneately, this is not the case. We neglect eachother's needs, we covet eachother's possesions, we envy, we get jealous, and we secretly hold unforgiveness towards our brethren. This behavior soon leads to an attack on the body of Christ. A serious illness will develop and could end up causing death among the whole church. I've seen it happen when even the pastors were destroyed by the leading of the people and not the leading of God. This led to offenses and regrets and soon the church folded.
Why Dont I Get What I Want?
The smart 'spiritual' answer is 'you always get what you want'. But that isn't very helpful, because if you can't pay the power bill and you want to be warm, there's clearly a conflict, and you can justifiably say 'I'm not getting what I want.
A Walk With A King
I seemed to have lost my heart. Now this is not just another love story gone awry. This is not another failed relationship or break- up that I usually dwell on. This is one of my spiritual stories, and I am starting it this way because I want to apologize. I want to apologize to God, my Father, my Creator, and to Jesus, my Lord and Savior. I feel the need to express myself because I think I have given them a back seat into my heart as of late and I feel I may have put up a barrier and am distancing myself somewhat from everyone including them, and yes maybe sometimes I need to distance myself from my fellow sisters and brothers but I never have a right to distance myself from the One who created me and the one who Saved me. I do want to say I am sorry. You know my true heart and know whether I mean that or not.
Horse Racing and Seabiscut -- A Hope, A Prayer, and A Horse!
Even though our lives progressively moves forward on occasion it has a way of working what seems to be in a backwards motion, yet in the end achieves the same results. I remember years ago when I started my bodybuilding career, I had no self- confidence, poor self-esteem, and an introverted personality. I couldn't fathom doing what others believed I could accomplish in such an unusual sport that went totally against my nature. However, at first I thought, "I didn't want to let them down and what if they're right? What if I could accomplish something if I set my mind to it, I asked? What if by believing in something bigger than myself would allow me to be a better person, develop confidence and be more outgoing?" Then over a period of time the belief others had started to rub off in me, combined with my work ethic the rest became history.
I had the intention of writing about Soul Mates but it occurred to me to write more about a Soul on its own beforehand. I believe we need to address what we mean by a Soul before we get into anything else.
Angel to Angel
Years ago, my minister spoke to us about how you could solicit the help of your guardian angels to help with conflict resolution. She told us stories about how she and others had successfully asked their guardian angels to speak to the enemy's guardian angel. The idea being that when you find yourself in an argumentative situation with someone, that you could request that your guardian angel talk angel to angel with their guardian angel about finding a win-win situation. She gave us examples of times when after asking for the angels to help mediate the problem, that the other party suddenly softened and the solutions began to easily show themselves. As she told the stories of her successes with this approach to problem solving, I began to think about how to use it in my own life.
Are You a Microwave or Crock Pot?
In our fast paced society we often want everything done quickly or your boss wants it done yesterday. In your spiritual life are you a Microwave or Crock Pot? I think often we want God to answer our prayers in Microwave fashion. I prayed a specific request today and I want it answered today. If our prayers are not answered quickly, we often wonder, "What is God doing?" We also decide to go it on our own and not wait for God's direction. Often it is difficult to wait on God's timing.
The Wisdom of the River: Lessons Learned
Over the past few years I have watched the popularity of whitewater rafting grip the vacation market. "Strange", I thought. "Why would floating down a river become such a hotly contested vacation destination?" Today, I understand this phenomena completely. There is a wisdom and lesson that only the river can teach. It is a lesson that I intend to learn as often as possible.
