Where Do Your Priorities Fit
An expert in time management was speaking to a group of business students when he decided to do an experiment. He pulled out a large mason jar, a dozen fist-sized rocks and carefully placed them, one by one, into the jar. When no more rocks would fit inside, he asked, "Is this jar full" Everyone in the class said, "Yes."
He reached under the table and pulled out a bucket of gravel. The instructor then poured gravel in the jar, shook it and asked, "Is this jar full " By this time the class was on to him. They replied: "Probably not,"
Next, he reached under the table and brought out a bucket of sand. He started dumping the sand in the jar until all the space between the rocks was filled. Once more, he asked the question. "Is this jar full" "No" the class shouted.
Finally, he grabbed a pitcher of water and poured until the jar was filled to the brim. The speaker looked at the class and asked, "What is the point of this illustration" The speaker listened to a number of very good responses and said: "The truth this illustration teaches us is this: If you dont put the big rocks in first, youll never get them in at all."
What are the big rocks in your life Are they your spouse, children and grandchildren Are they your work, television or gambling Are you wasting time with things that are unimportant What is important in your life
Surviving a C-Section
After 42 weeks of pregnancy, two days of undergoing inducement and physical stress on the baby, my daughter was delivered via an emergency C-section. Oh, it was music to my ears when my gynecologist arrived in my hospital room at 4:30 a.m. and told me they were going to do an emergency C-section. I must have been in shock or delirious! However, after going through a traumatic two days, I had had enough and I wanted to meet this precious baby who lived inside of me for 9+ months. The time came and I was wheeled to the operating room, and what a blessed event it was to see my sweet new baby girl!

In The Crook Of My Arms
His head is tilted back, mouth slightly open. His breath is slow and steady and his eyes almost all-closed but slightly open. His neck nestles over the crook of my arm and I stare at his face as he breathed in and breathed out. A feeling of overwhelming love washed over me. I was totally at peace as I watched my son sleep in my arms.
What the Matter Is
When my oldest boy was really young, he tickled my mother with thatphrase.I would ask him, "Whats the matter" and he would answer me, "Well, what the matter is..." followed by whatever it was that he needed todiscuss with me.He would say it with that very serious face thatchildren get when they are expecting to be taken very seriously. We all loved the cute way he prefaced his concerns.
If I Hurt You, Then Im Sorry
This statement has stopped many a war in my house. My oldest two children are two years apart in age and would fight about everything and nothing when they were little. One would anger the other and then deny that it ever happened. One would accidentally harm the other during play and not want to accept responsibility for the others anger.Seldom did a day pass by that one of them wasnt screaming at the other for some horrible crime. It never failed when I would be brought in to mediate, theyd both claim they were innocent and the other was bad.How many times did one of them try to convince me that the other was lying and just trying to frame them for a crime they didnt commit.Whats a parent to do
