We Are Trying To
How many times have you heard this in your life? Perhaps you have said it yourself. We are trying to accomplish something here. We are trying to complete this programme. We are trying to change the attitudes of our employees. We are trying to finish so we can go on holiday. We are trying to get fit. We are trying to diet. We are trying to give up smoking/drinking/eating donuts or whatever.
These are all statements you hear and no doubt have said a thousand times. But in them is the seed of failure. In saying these few words you are destined not to succeed. The seed to failure is in the word 'trying'.
Just stop a moment and look at your life. Ask yourself the question. What does trying really mean?
Does it mean:
I am making effort to succeed.
I am having a go but I don't think I will succeed
I don't want to do this but if I look as though I am it will keep everyone happy.
I must look as though I am making effort here.
It won't really work but if that's what they want I will go along with it.
I cannot see us completing this in a month of Sundays but at least it looks as though we have given it a go.
I hate the idea of jogging or the gym but to keep her/him happy I will have a go.
Deep down I like the way I am and the food I eat but it keeps people off my back.
I actually like smoking. It helps with the stress but after all the publicity I think I ought to give it up.
If trying means any of the above are you surprised you fail?
Have a go at this exercise.
Try not to think of a giraffe?
Did you succeed. I bet you can't get the photo of a giraffe out of your mind.
Try to make a cup of coffee. You can't can you. You either make a cup of coffee or you don't.
I know they are silly examples but they make the point. When it comes to tasks you either do them or you don't. So using the word 'trying' is just a way of preparing yourself when you haven't set the goals and objectives of what it is you want to achieve. If you really decide what it is you want to achieve then you will find the correct tools the right frame of mind to go out and do it. When you fail to set the goals and objectives or you are not really committed to succeeding for whatever reason then you save yourself with the word, 'trying'.
Trying really means a state between no I don't want to do it and full commitment. You and I both know that if you fully commit to something then 99 times out of 100 you succeed. The time you don't succeed is when you don't want to. But rather than face the aggravation from others you say I'll try. Which basically means; I will not give it my all. I will do what I think is necessary in order for others to think that I have given it a good shot. I will try.
Do you remember when you were child and your grandmother said you were very trying. In other words you were a pain in the butt. You were a nuisance.
Well it's the same. When you decide that you will try to do something you are really a nuisance to yourself and others because the chance of success is negligible. You, at best, are going to waste a great deal of time and energy doing something you don't really believe in and is destined for failure. Or, possibly marginal success.
Whenever you enter a new challenge with the thought of trying in your mind you are really doing yourself no favours. You are really showing the world that you are a non achiever.
If deep down, in those hidden dreams you carry, you want to be an achiever then do whatever is necessary in order to succeed. When you carry out a task say to yourself, "No one can do this without me", and we promise you will succeed.
It's not a case of we are trying to achieve something here but We are achieving our goals here.

Raising The Bar
One of the most popular events in the Olympics is the pole vault event. We all watch with amazement and anticipation as the competitor runs full speed down the track with a long pole in his hands. Then the jumper hangs on for dear life as he lowers the pole downwards into a hole that propels him high up in the air, high enough to clear the bar just in front of him. The jumper then has a soft landing on his back ready to jump even higher the next time.
Are You A Procrastinator?
What is the dictionary definition of a procrastinator? It is one who delays, defers action, puts off until another day. At some point in our lives all of us have probably procrastinated over something we needed to do. This is human nature.
Three Fs and a Challenge
It's no secret that life is a tricky animal to understand and it's even harder to tame it so that it delivers what you want. But from my work in the world of personal development I've figured out three simple things that can transform any situation, any problem, any issue...and any life. Three things that once in place can bring the best out of you, bring the best to you and allows you to enjoy all of it. What are these three things? I call them the Three F's - Fun, Fulfillment and Freedom.

A Formula For Improved Achievement
Your ability to perform in life is determined by a number of factors:
Habit Change--Six Steps to Success
As every New Year approaches, many of us are doing the usual?thinking, "This year will be different. I'm going to change?(fill in the blanks)?my work habits, my attitudes. I'll lose those pounds; I'll make that difficult choice that's long overdue." We re-make these resolutions throughout the year.

Ahead of the Curve to be on Top
I once heard a statement that no matter how good you think you are, there is always someone else who is better. This appears to be a pessimistic view even to a point of degrading one's self-worth. However, this saying provides a starting point to understanding one's gifts or setbacks, one's strengths or weaknesses in comparison to potential counterparts.
Allow me to start this with a quote:
Action Rules - Just Get Started!
'Action Rules!' in the Getting Goals Game. It is the number one most important step to achieving your greatness.
How To Win Over Your Fears
If you really want to do something you will always find a way. But if you don't want to do it, you will almost always find excuses.
It can be challenging to think about going to the next level. Especially when you're completely overwhelmed by the thought of taking the next step. Are you catatonic? "Stuck on still"? Moving nowhere, fast?

Motivation To Change, Why Is It So Hard?
We encounter constant changes throughout our life; it could be educational, health, relationships or financial, and of course with oneself. Maintaining or increasing one's sense of self-worth and happiness are strong incentives for these changes.
ACTION is More Important than Knowledge!
It was Albert Einstein who stated that 'imagination is more important than knowledge'. Now if he had been addressing a room full of entrepreneurs, I hazard a guess that he might also have extended this quotation by saying that 'action is more important than knowledge too!'
Beginnings Arent As Complicated As They Seem
Beginnings are seldom as complicated as they seem. You know what I mean by "complicated ? the dates and the duties and the things-to-be-remembered, the stuff that piles onto your plate with a new project or obligation. Whether it's an urgent justice issue, a medical diagnosis forcing a changed lifestyle, or the work of starting a new job, the message is that a whole bunch of stuff HAS to be done, and you are the only one to do it, and do it NOW!
Our Life ? Our Choice
OK, maybe that's a bit of an overgeneralization but it applies most of the time. Basically, what I am saying is that we are what we are because that's what we've decided to be. We live where we live, do what we do and think what we think because that's we've decided to do. Yes, I understand that there are some illnesses and other stuff that happens that tends to force us into a particular mode of operation. But by the same token, how we function within our situation and how we deal with the things we need to deal with is always our decision.
Rebirth from the Ashes
The legend of the phoenix can actually be found in several belief systems. It can be traced back to ancient Egypt when it was then known as "Bennu" or Bynw", a symbol of the sun god Osiris. Osiris was resurrected to life from serving as ruler of the underworld. Whether this mystical bird is attributed to the Chinese "Feng-huang", the Jewish "Milcham" or even an emblem of Christ, the legend remains the same? After serving its life cycle, the phoenix builds a nest and then by the sun and the friction of its own wings, is consumed by fire. It is inevitably reborn from the very ashes. The phoenix is therefore symbolic of resurrection, immortality, and my personal favourite - triumph over adversity. I has been said repeatedly that there are two types of people in this world: "marathoners" and "sprinters". Both are ambitious at heart. They set a goal and will pursue it zealously. The only difference is that a sprinter expects to see immediate results and if they do not receive those results, they may get discouraged and give up all together. A marathoner on the other hand, can get side tracked, knocked down, and trampled on, but will refocus and redirect when necessary in order to meet their ultimate goal. For example, a woman who had planned to lose thirty pounds in three months may be disappointed upon realizing that after the first month, she has only lost six. She had obviously expected to see faster results. But if that same woman takes into consideration that she is more toned or has more stamina, she may alter her official goal. She may decide "I want to go down a few dress sizes", or "I want to be able to incorporate fitness and nutrition into my lifestyle permanently." Along the way, she may miss a few morning jogs or go off her so-called diet, but above all, she is patient with herself. Patience is essential. It's important to accept that results are not always immediate. Sometimes, they aren't even tangible. But by just going through the necessary steps, you are on your way, whether you realize it or not. Afterall, the journey of 1000 miles begins with one step. Accepting that the process is slow will likely prevent you from giving up. By altering your original goal, you haven't fallen short. You've simply become aware enough to realize when and where to strategize. It is very important not to perceive set-backs as failures. Coming down hard on yourself can even crush your spirit. Within your spirit lies your innermost dreams, desires, and your attitude toward life. It was Benjamin Franklin who said, "Some people die at twenty-five and aren't buried until they are seventy-five". Some of us passively sit back and watch the rest of life go on because we feel we have had too many set-backs or let-downs to furthur pursue our dreams. Then there are those of us who have felt defeated at one point, but after getting side-tracked, knocked down, and trampled upon, rise up more determined to succeed than ever.
